Welcome, Malta: A New Chapter for ABeWER

Larnaca, Cyprus – 8 December 2025

ABeWER is proud to announce a new strategic collaboration in Malta through its partnership with Tektraco, one of the country’s most respected medical technology providers. This milestone marks a significant step forward in ABeWER’s European expansion. It reinforces a shared commitment to advancing patient safety, pressure injury prevention, and evidence-based clinical practice across Malta’s healthcare system.

This collaboration follows an impactful educational visit earlier this month, during which ABeWER delivered hands-on demonstrations, clinical training, and technology presentations at some of Malta’s largest and most advanced hospitals and rehabilitation centres.

Bringing multiTURN® 6 to Malta: A New Era in Pressure Care

The centrepiece of the collaboration is the introduction of multiTURN® 6, the world’s first MLTM – Multifunction Lateral Turning Mattress system. Engineered through decades of research, multiTURN® 6 is designed to transform three pillars of care:

  • Advanced Pressure Injury Prevention
  • Enhanced Patient Comfort and Mobility Support
  • Reduced Nurse and Caregiver Burden and Improved Workflow Efficiency

With its automated lateral turning, micro-movement capabilities, and microclimate optimization, the system aligns with the 2025 International Pressure Injury Guidelines (NPIAP/EPUAP/PPPIA) recommendations on repositioning, micromovements, and the use of clinically validated support surfaces.

Malta’s healthcare professionals showed exceptional engagement, professionalism, and readiness to embrace innovation,” said Christos Chapeshis, Gerontologist and Founder of ABeWER.

Together with Tektraco, our purpose is clear — to protect patients, empower clinicians, and support hospitals in significantly reducing the incidence and severity of pressure injuries.”

A Successful Educational Mission in Malta

During the ABeWER visit, interdisciplinary clinical teams — including doctors, nurses, physiotherapists, wound-care specialists, and hospital administrators — participated in demonstrations and discussions focused on:

  • How MLTM systems complement guideline-recommended repositioning strategies (R1–R14) by supporting safe and consistent lateral turns and micromovements.
  • The importance of pressure redistribution support surfaces (SS3–SS7) and how multiTURN® 6 integrates these principles into daily care.
  • Reducing caregiver physical strain while maintaining high standards of evidence-based prevention.
  • Implementation approaches that align with Malta’s goals for hospital quality improvement and patient safety.

The enthusiasm and openness of clinical teams reinforced the strong potential of this collaboration to support national-level improvements in pressure injury prevention.

Shared Values With Tektraco

Tektraco’s long-standing reputation for excellence, innovation, and clinical reliability makes it an ideal partner for introducing ABeWER technologies in Malta.

The partnership is grounded in:

  • Quality and safety
  • Trust and professional integrity
  • A shared mission to elevate care standards across the country

Together, ABeWER and Tektraco will continue to strengthen Malta’s pressure injury prevention ecosystem through education, evidence-based practice, and ongoing clinical support.

Looking Ahead: Building a Stronger Prevention Network

For ABeWER, each new collaboration represents more than commercial expansion. It expands the international network of clinicians, healthcare providers, and partners committed to improving outcomes for patients at risk of pressure injuries.

Every new country, every new partner, and every new clinical team strengthens the global effort to prevent avoidable harm,” said Christos Chapeshis.

Real impact happens when technology, education, and clinical practice come together — and that is precisely what we have begun in Malta.
